TC "Take Your Part! Involving of Minority youth through Non-formal education"

in Sigulda, Latvia

Aims & objectives

Objectives of the TC:
-To develop understanding on non-formal education principles, and how to use them in the work with minority young people;
-To provide participants with advanced information in the sphere of the Human Rights education and intercultural learning, as the ways for involvement of minority young people;
-To develop knowledge and understanding on identity and sense of belonging issues, and how these are connected with minority youth integration;
-To share experience and knowledge of the realities of work with minority youth in different countries, and to develop new ways and strategies for future work;
-To develop skills on how to work with the YOUTH programme for beginners and those, who already have certain experience.

Target group:
Youth leaders and youth workers from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Germany.

Methods used:
Non-formal education approach (with the variety of method, such as simulation games, role play games, work in mixed groups, theoretical inputs and plenary presentations, working in international groups on project development, action planning). Special focus - on outdoor experiential learning.

Responsibilities:
-Developing the concept of training course, preparation of and applying with the project of TC;
-Working out and realising of the TC programme on issues of youth non-formal education, youth active participation, intercultural learning, minority youth involvement, co-operation of youth NGOs and elaborating of youth projects;
-Preparation of the report of TC.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Participants: 24 youth leaders and youth workers from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Germany, working with Russian-speaking minority youngsters.

Outcomes of the activity

7 project ideas for international and local level developed by the participants.
3 of the ideas were realised after the TC.
At least 6 represented organisation were involved into future co-operation.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

Designing the training concept, developing and running the project, running the training programme, reporting, supporting and mentoring for the participants in between and after the training events.

I worked on this training for 8 days as a full time trainer.
