Sustainable IVS

The training activity took place

organised by SIW Internationale Vrijwilligersprojecten and Space for Sustainable Development

Aims & objectives

The objectives of Sustainable IVS are to:
- Better understand the concept of sustainability and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how IVS can contribute to it
- Apply the concepts of sustainability and the SDGs into the context of IVS and the various stakeholders (volunteer, local host organisation, coordinating organisation, etc.) involved
- Share and develop sustainability practices that can be used by the participants in their organisations
- Test out the developed sustainability practices through activities and projects organised in their IVS organisation and to evaluate them

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Sustainable IVS is open to anyone:
- Active involvement in the field of IVS (sending, hosting organisation, volunteer, member in an organisation, local host of European Solidarity Corps or workcamp), preferably through an organisation that is a member/partner in CCIVS, Alliance and/or SCI.
- Based in an EU Member State, a third country associated to the Programme as well as EU Partner countries (region 1-4).
- Motivated to bring relevant lessons learnt into reality.
- Curious or having a background in sustainability.
- Sufficient level of English to be able to express and participate in the project.
- Committed to actively participate in all phases of the project.
- Excited about the idea of spending a meaningful and fun week in Jordan with an international group, focusing on improving the IVS experience and its outcomes for (future) participants.
