Summer University Project School Izmir

The training activity took place
in Izmir, Turkey
organised by AEGEE
March 14-21, 2014

Aims & objectives

The participants got theoretical and practical knowledge in how to organize a great Summer University. The topics covered were Event Management, Public Relations, Organizer team management (HR), Risk assessment, Crisis management, Budgeting and Fundraising.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

18 participants from 9 nationalities (ES, IT, TR, MT, EL, AL, DE, RU, UA), all members of AEGEE who were responsible for organizing a Summer University in their countries.

Training methods used & main activities

The participants learned through games and participatory, interactive activities, as well as an innovative series of case studies in groups, following the NFE methodology, provided by a team of 5 trainers from different nationalities (UA, TR, EL, MK), with the support of the Academy (the pool of trainers of AEGEE) and the Summer University Coordination Team.

Outcomes of the activity

The training was highly successful, the participants felt ready to implement the knowledge gained directly and were very satisfied with the training, as well as having developed strong friendships between them. All SUs organized by the participants of the training got much higher ratings than the previous year. The highest point of success though is that the next SUCT comprised in its entirety by participants of this training!
