Aims & objectives

The aim of the project "STORIES FOR CHANGES" was to promote the EYD (European Year of Development), the concept of glocalization and responsible global citizenship through the STORYTELLING approach inspiring and explaining how to live sustainable and responsible in everyday reality and why it is important.
The objectives of the training were:
- To enable the participants with knowledge, skills and attitdes towards the Storytelling method;
- To raise awareness of the participants regarding EYD (European Year for Development, global interdependence, concept of "glocalization" and active global citizenship.
- To emphasize the importance of effective NGO marketing communication, specifically setting the role of storytelling within communication process as effective and innovative tool.

Humana People to People in Latvia works on global education issues (global interdependence, glocalization, development cooperation) for more than 7 years, actualizing these issues among different target groups - youth, teachers, pupils, children as well as developing methodological materials for schools and kindergartens. This training came as an answer to many of the needs that the organization had.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

There were 24 participants from Latvia, Estonia, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Macedonia, Greece, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Croatia. They were youth workers, youth leaders, educators, teachers and active project coordinators.

The trainers team consisted of 3 trainers, experienced in working with international groups and with the methods of non-formal learning.
The trainers were Ruta Kronberga (Latvia), Ignacio Salgado (Spain) and I.

Training methods used & main activities

Working methods: non-formal education methods - discussions, groups works, reflections, simulations games, creative writing, brainstorming methods, learning by doing - planning and implementing storytelling events for local youth.

Outcomes of the activity

Project have had the following outcomes:
--STORYTELLING (approach)- participants understood the concept of storytelling, it's different forms and usage in communication process. Involved organizations have increased their capacity to work with storytelling approach and develop their own storytelling models effective for their local communities.
-- GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE (content)- to raise awareness on EYD (European Year for Development (EYD), global interdependence, concept of "glocalization" and active global citizenship.
-- NGO MAREKTING COMMUNICATION - project emphasized the importance of effective NGO marketing communication, specifically setting the role of storytelling within communication process as effective and innovative tool.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

My tasks during within the team were: delivering sessions based on non-formal education methods, facilitating group discussion, preparing materials, facilitating evening activities, providing support for the participants etc.

I worked on this training for 7 days days as a full time trainer.
