Aims & objectives

• To empower participants with practical skills in decision-making, good communication, group dynamics, negotiation, problem-solving, crisis management and conflict resolution.
• To support participants in building confidence in their leadership potential and assisting personal self-development of leadership competencies.
• To utilise a wide range of training tools and methods and share knowledge of training methodology between Rural Youth Europe and ECYC
• To assist ECYC and Rural Youth Europe in strengthening the “pool” of experienced youth trainers established at the “Spice Up Your Youth Club!” study session and developing future common projects.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

34 youth workers and youth leaders from 17 countries participated to this study session representing their mother- organisations (members of ECYC & RYE).
An international preparatory team of 6 trainers (3 coming from ECYC and 3 from RYE) and one educational advisor.

Training methods used & main activities

All working methods and activities aimed at fostering intercultural learning and exchange between participants from different backgrounds. Key materials included the “European Portfolio for Youth Leaders and Youth Workers” and the Council of Europe T-kits. Methodology included:

- simulations,
- role plays,
- forum theatre,
- interactive lectures,
- audio-visual presentations,
- small and large group discussions,
- individual reflection
- verbal and visual presentations
- small group discussions
- plenary debates
- games & exercises
- cultural presentations with the use of theme walls

Outcomes of the activity

Outcomes
Empowerment of youth leaders and young board members with the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to effectively lead youth clubs and organisations throughout Europe.
The study session achieved:

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

Anna Dalosi's tasks and responsibilities
Member of the preparation team/ trainer.
Preparation and delivery of the training, evaluation. Anna Dalosi delivered the following sessions:
- Intro to Leadership. Aims: to explore the meaning and significance of Leadership but also the emotional aspect of it. To come to a common definition of Leadership in order to use it as a basis for common understanding throughout the study session.
- Leadership Styles. Aim: to identify different styles of Leadership and understand that in Leadership there is not one single correct style.
- Coaching. Aims: Understand the meaning and significance of coaching; Define coaching in a leadership context; Understand the GROW model; Define the Key Competences of a good coach;
Develop an action plan to improve the participants‘ coaching style.
- Personal Development Plans. Aims: To enable participants to set SMART goals and develop a plan for personal/ professional development; To help participants develop strategic planning skills; To promote solidarity and support among young leaders.
- Organisational Marketplace. Directions on how to present the participating organisations in order to identify similarities and differences in our work with the youth so as to build new project partnerships.

I worked on this training for 6 days as a full time trainer.
