TOY - Trainers Online for Youth

The training course called Show Your Life took place in Hollókő, Hungary from the 31st of October until the 11th of November 2012. In the 10 days long program there were 26 participants from 11 organisations from 9 different countries: Romania, Bulgaria, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Turkey, Czech Republic, Croatia and Hungary.
The themes of the training course were sharing knowledge, creativity and challenge through media, participation and inclusion. The themes mentioned were realized in using media and teaching media skills fist to participants directly involved than by them to Roma children living in Nógrád county – one of the most disadvantaged regions in Hungary. The program created the possibility to the participants to experience how media can be used in youth work. They practised the skills acquired during the 5 days long fieldwork when we visited disadvantaged local villages and held media workshops to the children – in this way the children also experienced a new way of expressing themselves. On the 5th day of the fieldwork mission participants organized an open event to the locals and the volunteers working with the children where all the short movies and the work of the children were presented.
Target group was youth workers. Involved countries were: Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Croatia, Turkey, Italia, Checz Republic
The method we used was learning by experience - non formal and experiental learning. The implemented activities were workshops on media, team building processes, theatre games and simulations, cooperation games, field work, midterm and final evaluation, sharings, reflections, outdoor activities.
