Shape the Future: Financial Literacy for Youth

Aims & objectives

Aim

To strengthen the capacity of 20 youth workers from Bulgaria and Romania to deliver practical, inclusive and engaging financial education through two international training mobilities.

Objectives

Develop youth workers’ knowledge of budgeting, saving, investing, responsible credit use, online financial tools and fraud prevention.
Improve their facilitation skills and ability to use non-formal methods, including simulations, case studies, interactive workshops and energisers.
Equip participants to make financial education accessible and relevant to young people’s everyday lives.
Increase the participation of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in financial education activities.
Support youth workers in helping young people overcome economic barriers, improve their employment prospects and become more financially independent.
Strengthen participants’ confidence and motivation to promote financial inclusion and deliver financial education in their communities.

Outcomes of the activity

A set of practical learning cards on different investment products was developed for use in financial education activities.
Several non-formal learning methods, simulations and interactive exercises were created and tested.
Twenty youth workers improved their knowledge of personal finance, investment, saving, credit and online financial safety.
Participants strengthened their facilitation skills and confidence in delivering financial education to young people.
Youth workers became better equipped to explain complex financial topics in a clear and engaging way.
The activity produced reusable educational resources that can be applied and adapted in future workshops with young people, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Participants increased their motivation and capacity to promote financial literacy and inclusion in their local communities.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I helped design the learning program, co-developed the training materials with the second trainer Camelia Olari and delivered 50 % of the workshops across the two mobilities.

I worked on this training for 12 days as a full time trainer.
