Seminar on how to improve the promotion of the EVS and EVS quality project implementation

The training activity took place
in Rome, Italy
organised by Italian National Agency
26-30 May 2015

Aims & objectives

The training aimed at offering a space for newcomers and experts in the field of EVS to meet and share their best-practices, to learn more about EVS and its features, and to improve the quality of their projects as well as the promotion of the programme. The activity addressed the needs of EVS workers to feel supported in their roles and empowered in their competencies. In this way they can offer quality projects to their hosted volunteers and be a better support for the sending ones.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The team included 3 trainers: they are originally from Italy but 2 of them live now in different countries in Europe. Their different backgrounds and experiences enriched the collaboration and their competencies complemented each other resulting in a harmonious team work. The group of 28 participants was quite diversified with people from European countries but also SEE and EEC. They were all people involved in the implementation of EVS both as newcomers and experts on the field.

Training methods used & main activities

The Seminar was based on non-formal learning activities to promote learning-by-doing, and peer-to-peer experiences. The team offered participants a variety of methods for them to learn tools they could also use with their hosting or sending volunteers. We provided activities where they could discuss among each other the values and objectives of EVS, as well initiatives where they could experience first hand some situations that refer to interculturality, conflict management, etc.

Outcomes of the activity

The Seminar was a great opportunity for participants to meet with peers and build a network useful for future references. All of them were quite satisfied with the outcomes of the activity. They have been empowered to manage their projects in a more efficient way, better supporting volunteers and their learning process.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

The team collaborated at the same level identifying the needs and objectives which were to be tackled. Together we planned the programme defining the various activity according to one's specific expertise and passion. Each of us participated fully in the project implementation supporting one another during each part of the experience.

I worked on this training for 4 days as a full time trainer.
