The major aim of this Training of Trainers course (ToT-course) is to train trainers who have the competences and the motivation to contribute to the improvement of the quality of projects within the Erasmus+: Youth in Action Programme of the European Union.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Participants are (junior) trainers in youth field and have been recruited by participating National Agencies for the Erasmus+: Youth in Action Programme. In ToT 2016/17 23 participants from Belgium (FR), Belgium (Fl), Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Turkey took part in this long term training course

Training methods used & main activities

The methodology of the ToT course is following a blended-learning approach, where the 3 residential seminars are interlinked with the online phases between. The ToT-course is offering a 10-months accompanied learning process where participants can make important progress in their professional development as a trainer – based on the needs they identify for themselves. During this 10 months, participants are developing an international TC within Erasmus+ Youth in Action. Trainers use work mainly with creative methods, with large focus on Self-directed Learning. One of the methods is using the ukulele as a learning tool. During the process we work with ETS Competence Model.

Outcomes of the activity

As it is a long-term quality training course, participants reflect and develop their trainer competences, their attitudes, mindsets, skills and knowledge an a variety of topics relevant for being an international trainer in the European youth field. They all have designed and realised an international training course within E+ YiA. Some participants become active members of national trainer pools.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I am part of the trainer team, together with Paul Kloosterman and Anita Silva. We develop this course together with Udo Teichman (SALTO T&C RC) with feedback of participating NA's.
I design and realise all 3 residential seminars together with my team members. I mentor 8 participants during 10 months process (7 mentor talks each) and I take part in 2 ToT online learning weeks. I also take part in evaluation and reporting. Besides that we spent time to develop ourselves a sa learning team.

I worked on this training for 45 days per year days as a full time trainer.
