Aims & objectives

- Exchange and discuss queer education tools, skills and approaches that we have tried out in the past years.
- Reflect on and discuss group dynamics, conflicts and barriers in (international) queer youth projects.
- Bring queer youth workers together for networking and creating follow-up projects.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The target group was comprised of:
- Adults18 years old or older
- Living in one of the countries of our partner organisations: Switzerland, Germany, Armenia, Poland, Kosovo, Morocco, Latvia.
- Having experience with queer youth work or activism
- preferred participants of all classes, educational backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, abilities and ethnic backgrounds.

Our Team:
- comprised of the SCI Switzerland organisational and logistics team
- volunteers
- trainers from the partner organisation Critical Queer Solidarity

Training methods used & main activities

Non-formal education methods such as:
icebreakers, teambuilding games, small group discussions, plenary discussions, peer feedback sessions, self-organized group work

Formal education methods such as:
powerpoint presentations, independent research.

Outcomes of the activity

The training will result in the publishing of the QUTIE Handbook, a guide for queer trainers in order to make their activities more intersectional and accessible to their multi-faceted audiences. Participants compiled all the things they learned during the training sessions and compiled it into one document. It will be published on the website at a future date.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

As a trainer, my responsibilities were as follows:
- Participate in planning sessions before the training courses and alter the frameworks based on specific needs
- Facilitating sessions during the training, including leading sessions, moderating discussions and facilitating exercises
- Participate in follow-up meetings and evaluations after the training courses
- Participate in and contribute to the dissemination of the project results.

I worked on this training for 7 days as a full time trainer.
