Aims & objectives

The youth exchange’s goal was to make a lasting impact on the participants by introducing them to the main problems we face nowadays regarding climate change (both practical and psychological) and the solutions we need to enforce for a better future. We helped them widen their horizons, to take responsibility for their own actions, including their mental well-being and for their environment and local communities. The project aligned with the goals of the partner organisations in making young people more resilient towards climate change’s mental effects, focusing on facing reality and how to cope with it in communities.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The group included young people from various European countries, fostering a rich intercultural exchange. Participating countries included Hungary, Greece, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania and Cyprus.

Training methods used & main activities

During our project, we worked with methods that focused on scientific facts, community work and personal reflection on mental health, using creative tools. The methods were selected to be suitable, engaging and creative for young people (Newspaper Theatre, Gallery Walk, Debates, Land Art). Throughout the project week small teams also ahd to collaborate for multiple days to create a mini-project with an outcome focusing on our topics.

Outcomes of the activity

The youth exchange achieved the following outcomes:
* better understanding on different aspects of climate change, including science, environmental politics, capitalism, efefcts on mental health
* advanced attitude towards working together as a community in a local level

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

As co-facilitator, I was responsible for designing the programme, facilitating sessions and evaluating the outcomes. My tasks included creating a safe, brave and engaging learning environment, delivering workshops, and providing personalized support to participants, if needed. I also ensured that the project's goals were met by adapting methods to group dynamics and addressing emerging needs during the program.

I worked on this training for 9 days as a full time trainer.
