Online course Appetiser - An introduction into international youth work

The training activity took place
in HOP online learning platform
organised by Erasmus+ National Agencies in Denamrk and Czech Republic
2 editions in Septmeber and November, 2020

Aims & objectives

● To familiarise participants with non-formal and intercultural learning and have a concrete example of how this can be done online.
● To have participants enjoying their first online intercultural youth project experience.
● To enable participants to share their local youth activities and related experience, within an international youth work context, with the use of digital tools and media.
● To explore possibilities of support available for international youth activities offered by the Erasmus+: Youth in Action and the European Solidarity Corps Programmes.
● To analyse examples of good quality youth projects supported by the Erasmus+: "Youth in Action" and the European Solidarity Corps Programmes.
● To better understand how to benefit from the international youth work context in participants' local practice.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

45 participants from several European countries, newcomers and beginners to international youth projects.

3 trainers from Lithuania, Turkey and Greece supported by 2 staff members of Erasmus+ NAs in Denmark and the Czech Republic and 1 staff member of the SALTO Training & Cooperation RC.

Training methods used & main activities

The team chose to use the following online mediums to deliver the course:
● HOP platform for online learning to host the asynchronous content and activities of the course organised into seven sessions. The team used divers online learning activities available on this moodle-based platform:
○ static text-based content enriched with visuals and media, such as animated videos, interview recordings, short movies from projects,
○ discussion forums to facilitate group dynamics, exchange and networking
○ other embedded tools, such as Menti and Padlet
○ Open Badges to help participants track learning progress and recognise learning achievements
● Zoom conference calling platform to host 5 synchronous meetings of the learning group
● Gather online meeting space to host an intercultural learning session. Gather is building virtual spaces for people to live and interact more effectively online.

Outcomes of the activity

99% of participants agreed in the evaluation that course met aim and objectives.
