Aims & objectives

The aim of the On-arrival training is to facilitate the volunteers' adaptation to a new cultural environment and to provide the support with the projects.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Target group: 32 EVS volunteers, doing their project in Spain.

Training methods used & main activities

NFE methods. Presentations of the diferent projects and experiencies, intercultural learning, P2P education.

Outcomes of the activity

The EVS volunteers went with more information about Youth in Action and specially EVS
they get clarification of the concept of volunteering and non-formal learning and information on the rights and responsibilities of the volunteers and other actors as well as practical information on issues such as money and working hours); country specific information on culture, political- and administrative institutions and "every-day life";
facilitating intercultural understanding, learning and communication
facilitating cultural adaptation;
crisis management and conflict resolution;
response to the expectations and possible insecurities of the volunteers;
motivating and encouraging the volunteers;
facilitating networking between volunteers.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I was one of the trainers, together with Monika Herrmannova, facilitating the sessions and involved in all the process from preparation and pedagogic project to evaluation.

I worked on this training for 4 days as a full time trainer.
