Aims & objectives

Cyberbullying is bullying with the use of digital technologies. It can take place on social media, messaging platforms, gaming platforms, and practically anywhere in the cyber world. Cyberbullying can be spreading lies about or posting embarrassing photos of somebody, sending hurtful messages, impersonating someone, and sending mean messages to others on their behalf. We believe that youth organizations and youth workers should do something in order to educate responsible digital citizens who can act and react in the cyber world respecting the same rules that they also respect in real life. In this project, we want to gather youth workers and their knowledge about cyberbullying and spread awareness of the negative impacts and dangers of the irresponsible use of digital devices and online platforms. We wish to work together on ways to reach out to young people and offer them digital education through non-formal methods and activities to teach them how to be responsible digital citizens and to recognize cyberbullying at its early stage.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The project’s target group is anyone currently involved in working with young people (in any format) or express serious commitment to get involved in the future; from Hungary, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Italy, Latvia, Greece, Spain, Portugal, and Poland.

Training methods used & main activities

Interactive Workshops: Participants engaged in hands-on workshops designed to explore the nature of cyberbullying, its effects, and ways to combat it. These workshops encouraged active participation and collaboration among youth workers.

Role Play and Theater Techniques: Role play was employed to simulate scenarios involving cyberbullying, allowing participants to practice responses and interventions. Theater techniques helped participants explore the emotional impact of cyberbullying on victims and bystanders, fostering empathy and understanding.

Group Discussions: Facilitated discussions encouraged participants to share their experiences and challenges related to cyberbullying. These discussions provided a platform for exchanging ideas and strategies for addressing the issue.

Case Studies: Participants analyzed real-world examples of cyberbullying incidents to identify effective prevention and intervention strategies. This method fostered critical thinking and practical application of concepts discussed.

Skill-Building Exercises: Activities focused on developing skills necessary for educating young people about responsible digital citizenship, including communication skills, conflict resolution, and techniques for engaging youth in discussions about online behavior.

Digital Tools Training: Participants learned to utilize various digital tools and platforms for raising awareness about cyberbullying and promoting digital citizenship. This included practical sessions on creating engaging online content and leveraging social media for positive outreach.

Creative Campaign Development: Participants worked in groups to design awareness campaigns targeting young people, brainstorming innovative ideas and strategies for spreading awareness about cyberbullying.

Action Planning: Participants developed actionable plans for implementing their learned strategies in their organizations, outlining specific steps to promote responsible digital citizenship among youth.
