Aims & objectives

This project has two parts. The first part, the training course, served as a more practical start of the project, where participants learned more about different sorts of discrimination, stereotypes; shared countries realities and good practices about offline and online hate speech; learned more tools and methods that help fighting hate speech.
Participating organizations had the need to improve the competencies of their youth workers and youth leaders of their community, because of the recent situation in Europe, right-wing paving the way. Organizations wanted to enhance their capacities to diminish stereotypes and prejudices about migrants, refugees, LGTBIQ+ community, Roma people and other marginalized groups.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

There were 13 participating countries in this project:
Portugal, Finland, Spain, Macedonia, Denmark, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia, Italy, Germany, Romania, Croatia, and Poland. Each participating organization sent two youth workers for this training course.

Training methods used & main activities

Name games, energizers, team-buildings like "Monomulti islands" and "Crocodile river", sharing countries realities, and good practices, MUN, debates, brainstorming, study cases, discussions, forum theatre, Erasmus+ session, project management "project tree", role plays, creating social campaigns, reflections, check-in/check-out, etc.

Outcomes of the activity

Participants learned the definitions and different kinds of discrimination, destroyed some stereotypes, shared about situations about hate speech in different countries, improved empathy and learned tools that they can use to help people in need, disadvantaged people, take action and speak up.
We had excellent reviews and feedback from the participants about the training course, the project was disseminated and reached a lot of people on online and in local communities because we had open sessions, publications about the project in local magazines. Follow-up activities of this project are yet to come, during which even more young people will be reached.

I was the trainer in the first part of the project, the training course.

I worked on this training for 8 days as a full time trainer.
