The main aims for this training course were:
- to support youth organisatons in sustaining long-term strategic plans,
- to contribute to professionalisation of the youth work around Europe,
- to build a strong alliance of knowledge and experience in the field of NGO management.
Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, FYROM, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania.
Teamwork sessions - e.g. strategy building for NGO; simulations - e.g. card game simulating management of different structures of NGO, lego simulation for building a mission statement; focus groups - e.g. making analysis of external environment for NGO; common discussions - e.g. third sector conditions in our countries.
The TC was assessed very high by participants. They have gained/developed their knowledge on strategic management of an NGO, environemnt and resources analysis (PEST, problem tree, SWOT, key success indicators etc.), vision/mission statements, goal setting, strategic domains setting, action plan development, monitoring and evaluation planning and strategic decision making. Moreover, they have developed social and intercultural competences, negotiations, presentation skills, understanding for different organisation cultures of youth NGO.
Material results: handouts, scripts, platform for information exchange, webinars - to be done.
Trainer during the whole duration of the TC. Topics covered by me:
- Introduction to strategic thinking, strategic management, strategic planning and strategy development;
- Vision statement, mission statement, strategic domains demarkation;
- SWOT analysis as a method of environment and resource analysis;
- Organisation cultures and values in NGO;
- Evaluation and monitoring methods, indicators of success;
- Organisation management - structures of NGO in relation to the strategy type and organisation culture;
- "My dream NGO" - shaping organisation management along "human dimension";
- Evaluation of the TC.
