TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Clair BROWN
The aims of this training –in line with the KMST strategy on staff training- were
· To develop the competencies of newcomers to link EU youth policy (E+:YiA specific
objectives) and national youth policy with the E+:YiA programme implementation
· To develop holistic understanding and knowledge of newcomers about E+:YiA and about the opportunities/links between different parts of the programme
· To develop the ability of newcomers to link European and national youth policy and practise,
translating national to European and vice versa
The specific objectives of the training were:
· To enhance the newcomers’ understanding of the framework of the Erasmus+: Youth in
Action Programme and their place within the network.
· To allow the newcomers to become familiar with the network and his/her role in this context.
· To stimulate cooperation on European level.
All National Agencies were invited to send staff who had recently joined the agency. The profile of staff was they should ideally have been involved with one E+ deadline.
Finally there were 18 participants. The team was composed of myself and a co-trainer, a logistics co-ordinator, a graphic reporter and a co-ordinator from JINT who was involved from planning through to evaluation.
The training focussed on competence development in National Agencies. All methods used were around non-formal education and competence development, exploratory learning and self orientated space. Participants had the chance to contribute needs, ideas and areas for learning.
This was an extremely successful activity which allowed for huge steps in self confidence in participants roles, feedback demonstrated they felt empowered by the activities, particular those around competence development which was the focus of the KMST plan. This training will be delivered annually by JINT and I will continue to be involved with other colleagues.
The team had a planning meeting, followed by two of us creating the training timetable (to be used as a structure for the following years).. Myself and a colleague then delivered this training with support for JINT and a graphic facilitator, including presentations, quizzes, interactive learning opportunities and a visit to the European Commission to meet key staff there.
