Aims & objectives

Training activity aims were:
- introducing the methodology of Sensory Labyrinth Theatre
- invigoration of a dialogue in Serbia about innovation in youth work approaches through participative arts
- providing the knowledge, skills and confidence to the training participants to apply the approaches in their own work - or at least to enrich their current practice.
- highlighting the application opportunities of the methodologies in engaging, motivating and generating a sense of community and togetherness for young people disadvantaged by disability, discrimination, emotional neglect and dislocation.
The training explored themes of Metamorphosis in particular how young people can be supported to make the change from child to adult in this precarious economic and social climate that we find ourselves needing to confront.
UG RAFT is organisation working with mostly young people. The organisation is made of experts in the field of performing arts, culture and participative art.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Target group was made of 35 non-formal educators and artists active in the youth field from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Croatia, Bulgaria, Wales, Romania, Estonia, France,Italy and Portugal.

Training methods used & main activities

Sensory Labyrinth Theatre, Theatre of the Oppressed , drama in education. Youth participated in interactive activities where they used theatre to get deeper understanding of themselves and others. Sensory Labyrinth Theatre is a method that deals with senses, its a process that leads to creation of a site- specific installation performance.
Theatre of the Oppressed is a methodology created by Augusto Boal, and its used in working with various groups. Theatre of the Oppressed methods use theatre as a means to promote socal and political change.

Outcomes of the activity

Vast majority of the participants have been using the methodologies of participative theatre. Traning contributed to creating of international network of theatre groups and organisations The Republic of Imagination, which implemented many activities worldwide, dealing with many social issues by using theatre as a tool.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I was in charge of designing and implementing the part of the training which focuses on participative drama, specifically on Theatre of the Oppressed method, and its use in youth work. I was in charge for the 4 days of the training.

I worked on this training for 4 days days as a full time trainer.
