Aims & objectives

The main aims of the training were:
- To provide opportunities for Mentors to share their previews experiences as EVS mentors
- To develop their professional profile as EVS mentors
- To introduce new approaches to support a learning process of EVS volunteer

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

EU and South Med organizations, mentors working in EVS and has at least one EVS mentoring experience in long term.

Training methods used & main activities

The training is based on learning from one’s own work by sharing one's own experiences with others. During the process the participants learn to understand different phenomena of their work as well as their own relationship with them. This enables them to clarify their work goals and develop suitable ways to achieve them. In the training the participants develop their own work and know-how by sharing experiences, listening others and building shared knowledge. Throughout the training participants are familiarized with mentorship skills. Different dialogue techniques are used to enhance dialogical communication and reflection.

Outcomes of the activity

Mentor for mentors TC is the first training course specific for EVS mentors from South-Med and program countries together.
I consider it as a piloting project to create common base between EU and South Med organizations working in EVS to make sure we have close concept about mentoring in EVS.
- New approaches have been adopted by participants and their organizations in mentoring
- enhancing and paying more educational methods in cooperation within EuroMed context in sending and hosting volunteers
- cooperation between 3 NAs and Salto EM has taken to the focus of developing better quality in mentoring for EVS volunteers coming/going to/from EU and South Med countries
- adapting and designing educational tools for other trainers in such topics, and also for mentors to use in their coaching other mentors and supporting the learning process of the EVS volunteers

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

- Co-Trainer from South Med region
- support in forming the call for participants
- prepare the program and the methodology
- select and develop the tools needed for the training
- provide the training
- reporting and evaluation to Finnish NA

I worked on this training for 5 days days as a full time trainer.
