The Mental Health in Youth Work training explores the role and competencies of the youth workers in supporting the mental health needs of young people by strengthening their emotional and mental health skills.
Objectives
- Clarifying the understanding of what mental health means for ourselves
- Raising awareness of the importance of mental health in youth work
- Understanding the role of youth workers in promoting mental health in their work with young people
- Developing youth workers’ practical skills in supporting people’s mental health in their work
- Exploring approaches, tools, and resources that can be adapted in the organisation’s work
- Encouraging participants to reflect on their everyday practices with young people
- Enhancing the capacity to create a supportive, inclusive, and stigma-free environment
Trainers from Hungary and Norway, together with NA officers from Norway and Finland.
The group came from many different countries:
Finalnd, Iceland, Norway. Slovenia, Hungary, Poland, Denmark, Turkey, Italy, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Austria.
There were different non-formal learning methods.
Reflection, group discussions, hand of mental health, 4 corners with collective mapping, group agreement with safer learning, socio-ecological model on the floor, line, silent gallery, scenarios, etc.
The training was a success according to the participant, traienrs and NA officers. The evaluation from the participants were good and the objectives listed were met according to them.
Erasmus+ ungdom, Norway, have a publication on their website and also the Finnish NA.
I was a co-trainer in this activity, togehther with Arpad from Hungary, all of the 3 days.
I was also a part of the team of 7 who made the program and content for the Finnish NA - SNAC.
