Marhaba shabab: Capacity Building Training Course for Youth Leaders

The training activity took place
in Giza, Egypt
organised by COSPE (Italy) and ANCE (Greece)

Aims & objectives

The training was aimed to promote active youth participation as a tool for local community development in southern Giza marginal communities. It was addressed to 29 natural youth animators/leaders and specific issues tackled were: volunteering, group dynamics, Communication skills, crisis management in team work, active participation as a tool for the promotion of social change and as a means for young people’s awareness and personal development, needs assessment & analysis, youth project management
The result was that after 7 days training the participants, after analyzing the problems faced by youth in the local community, presented problems and idea for solutions in a public session in their town, with the presence of the local authorities.
Methodology used was based on non formal education methods with an active participation approach: brain storming, role-playing, simulations, study cases, etc.

I was trainer in an international team of 3 trainers: Xenia Koutentaki, Ahmed Barakat and myself.

I worked on this training for 8 days as a full time trainer.
