Aims & objectives

The Long-Term Training Course taking place in the Netherlands and Armenia, aiming to support 30 youth workers, educators and youth trainers across Europe in the development of their diversity management skills.
"Managing Diversity for More Inclusive Youth Work in Europe" aims to support 30 youth workers, educators and youth trainers from Erasmus+ Program and Partner countries in development of their diversity management skills and in learning how to implement a culture of diversity in their working environments by increasing diversity-oriented awareness in their work with young people.

This Long Term Training Course has been designed in order to support youth workers, educators and youth trainers to incorporate diversity-awareness and behavior in their work, making sure it exists both in our trainings, projects and initiatives on diversity and in any other project not directly related to the topic.

The Long Term Training Course has the following main objectives:

Empowering youth workers, trainers and educators to develop diversity orientation in their work with young people and build their competence in diversity management.
Supporting youth workers in incorporation of diversity into their working environment, thus, making their work more inclusive and effective.
Promoting diversity-oriented attitudes and awareness within the European programs in the fields of Education, Training and Youth.
The Long-Term Training Course consists of 3 phases:

Introductory Training Course in Ommen, the Netherlands (10-17 June, 2022)
Local Activities in the Participating Countries
Capacity Building and Evaluation Seminar in Armenia (October 2022)

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

We invite 2 participants from Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Moldova, Portugal and Turkey, 3 participants from Belarus, Georgia, The Republic of North Macedonia and Ukraine and 4 participants from the Netherlands.

Training methods used & main activities

The training methods used in this activity likely included a combination of the following:

Workshops: Interactive sessions where participants were engaged in discussions, case studies, and practical exercises. These workshops would have focused on developing skills in identifying and addressing hate speech, as well as designing effective campaigns.

Role-playing: A method used to simulate real-life scenarios involving hate speech and human rights violations, helping participants practice responses and build confidence in addressing these issues in various contexts.

Group Discussions and Brainstorming: Facilitated discussions and brainstorming sessions allowed participants to share experiences, exchange ideas, and explore strategies for confronting hate speech both online and offline.

Collaborative Projects: Participants likely worked in small groups to create local campaigns, educational activities, or materials that would be used to combat hate speech in their communities. This encouraged teamwork, creativity, and the application of knowledge gained during the training.

Case Studies: Reviewing real-life examples of hate speech incidents and human rights issues helped participants understand the complexities of these problems and the best approaches to addressing them.

Interactive Learning Tools: Use of online platforms, multimedia presentations, and other interactive tools likely helped to enhance engagement and make learning more dynamic.

Peer-to-Peer Learning: Encouraging participants to share their experiences and insights from their home countries, creating a mutual learning environment where everyone could learn from each other’s successes and challenges.

Workshops on Campaigning: Teaching participants how to design and implement effective anti-hate speech campaigns, with a focus on strategy, messaging, and target audience engagement.
