Aims & objectives

LTTC “Communication with no words” was a long-term project aiming to build youth workers' competence to create and facilitate the meaningful communication process with young people with the marginalized background. One of the main aims of this project was to foster non-verbal communication in the educational process addressing current challenges such as intercultural dialogue in the work with refugees or preventing the radicalization of young people through different forms of art including drawings, sketching, comics, different forms of theatre, dance, etc.
The objectives of the LTTC were:
- To discuss youth work realities in different countries and ways of communication with multicultural groups
- To discuss what non-violent communication is its features and ways to ensure it in different youth work settings. To share positive and negative practices among participants.
- To discover different layers of meaningful communication: rational, emotional, and kinesthetic and to experience them.
- To reflect on the effects of non-verbal communication, and how it’s linked with personal attitudes;
- To become conscious about personal body language when working in a multicultural environment;
- To explore different forms of art that can serve to build a non-violent communication process in multicultural groups.
- To discuss the benefits and limits of various communication tools
This LTTC consisted of 2 stages:
The first activity (TC) was focused on exploring visual tools of communication such as drawing, sketching, doodling, etc.,
The second activity (TC) was a continuation of the first part, but it was dedicated to plastic kinds of art (theatre, dance, and bodyworks), so the participants learned to express themselves using their body and voice, and became aware of personal body language and self-expression.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The participants of both TC were 28 participants (including the team) coming from 12 countries - Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Croatia, Hungary, Georgia, Latvia, Belarus, Italy. The TC was open for youth leaders, youth workers dealing with young people, staff from NGOs, and active volunteers.

Training methods used & main activities

During the both activities, all the used methods were non-formal, non-frontal (presentations should be done in the most participative and interactive way) and highly participative fitting different learning styles and preferences

Outcomes of the activity

The most significant results of the project include:
- Project poster- created in order to ensure better visibility of the project. The logo of the Erasmus + was placed on all printed materials as well as all around the venues of both activities.
- promotional/report video has been made about the second activity of the LTTC:

As was already mentioned, the first part was dedicated to exploring visual tools of communication such as drawing, sketching, doodling, etc, so the outcomes of the first part were visual, one on them (the Frog tale) has inspired two of participants to create stop motion video, during one of the next projects “No Hate”
