Aims & objectives

LBMF! was a Youth Exchange aimed to build a bridge between the past and the future, focus on what is common for Europeans and how we can learn from history, foster reconciliation and constructive approaches to remembrance, promote the European spirit of cooperation, understanding, and tolerance and active participation of young people. By looking back, we learn the story of who we are, where we come from, and this knowledge can potentially reveal where we are headed. The main need is bringing positions closer together in order to prevent/tackle hate speech aroused as consequence. The main goal of this project is to bring together 36 young people and motivate them to investigate and preserve historical memory, promote reconciliation and foster remembrance through non-formal education activities. This will foster critical thinking and provide participants the necessary researching techniques and tools, focusing on the causes and the consequences that caused historical events that shouldn’t be repeated.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

LBMF! project brought together 36 youngsters from different contexts, from countries involved in different past events that still shape the path towards the future (Croatia and Serbia, Macedonia and Turkey). They worked on the same topic and focused on one goal together: to learn about historical facts in critical peaceful way. Participants from countries that are not directly involved in these kind of historical events (Italy and Spain), but have gone through similar situations through out history, contributed with an external point of view and enrich the debate.

Training methods used & main activities
