TOY - Trainers Online for Youth

K(no)w Extremism project aimed at introducing the participants to the essential concepts, mindsets as well as skill sets associated with countering violent extremism. Via training courses, participants explored the role of peace-building activities and conflict transformation both in addressing and preventing extremist violence, and further, developed the conceptual foundation in Online counter-extremists narratives campaigns.
The training course was organised by https://www.terrampacis.org/ in cooperation with "Fundacja Zielony Słoń" from Poland.
The format allowed participants to grasp the complexity of conflict and violence through the lens of peace-building within the multicultural society context by viewing conflict transformation and violence prevention from a peacebuilding perspective. For extremism to exist, there must be conflicts and/or differences that have not been or are not being addressed in the proper way, thus, the failure to transform or resolve those conflicts or differences is what leads to extremist violence.
Thus, the project consisted of two training courses, which allowed participants to ultimately, enhance the effectiveness of addressing and/or preventing extremism through peace-building interventions and enhance analysis on creating counter messages and counter-narratives that challenge gendered grievances; and hate speech in preventing extremist narratives.
I prepared the training program with all the presentations, sessions, and individual and group tasks for the participants to continue organising their follow-up activities when they go back to their countries.
With the support of the coordinating and hosting organisation, I also prepared the report of the long-term training course which involved also a campaign.
