TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Balazs Kiss
This EVS volunteer's club was organised by the Artemisszio Foundation as partner of the Hungarian National Agency of the YiA Program. The aim of the training was to create a space for EVS participants where they can reflect on their own EVS projects, experience, intercultural learning and conflicts as well as to share their expercience with their peers thus enabling each other to learn from others' experience. Another important element of these occasions is to have fun and get to know new people, establish new contacts and learn about Hungarian culture and history.
As most of the EVS clubs, this one was also highly diverse: 14 young EVS participants from 7 different countries: participants did not only represent diversity through the different countries where they came from, but they were keen to show the culture and specialities of the different regions where they were doing their EVS projects.
The event consisted of inclusive simulation games, workshops and debates. We also organized outdoor activities to get in touch with the local neighborhood as well as leisure activities where participants could relax in a funny way and get to know each other.
It is always challenging to find a good balance of program elements by setting up a plan that enriches the participants and give them new aspects to the evaluation of their EVS projects and their own development; but at the same time gives enough space for fun and socializing in a meaningful and funny way. Based on the feedbacks of particpants and that of their hosting organisations and the personal monitoring of the NA, we managed to find this good balance. The EVS Club was a successful one therefore.
I was a co-trainer besides Gabriella Nagy, both of us working for Artemisszio Foundation that time. We designed the plan of the EVS club together and we shared tasks (leading blocks/assisting) equally. I was also responsible for the organization of leisure activities.
