Aims & objectives

The Youth Education Centre holds trainings and seminars in global education, peace education, intercultural understanding and empowerpent trainings.

This projects aim was to empower young adults with refugee experiences with the Storytelling methodology. Often the media tells the refugees stories from their perspective. In this training we want to empower them by giving them a voice and telling the stories they need to tell from their perspective.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

In this training course 17 young adults with refugee experiences participated. They came from Eritrea, Somalia and Syria and Afganistan.

Training methods used & main activities

The methodology used in this training course is experience based learning, media pedagogy and empowerment methods.

Due to the international target group we applied and fostered incultural skills to create positive group dynamics and motivate and empower the participants.

Outcomes of the activity

During this training course young adults were supported in gaining gaining selfconfidence and intercultural skills in order to foster positive social change.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

My role in this training course was that of a trainer, together with my Co-Trainer Mohammad Al Bdewi. Mohammad is from Syria himself and an expert on Videomaking and Storytelling.

I worked on this training for 5 days as a full time trainer.
