Inclusive Partnership

The training activity took place
in Piatra Neamt, Romania
organised by CREED (Economic Resources and Education for Development Centre) Romania
18-26 February 2017

Aims & objectives

The TC was part of the KA2 Inclusive Partnership project, that aimed to improve youth workers competences related to inclusion activities for young people with fewer opportunities and more specifically, for young people coming from rural or poor urban areas.

The 8-day training course in Romania helped youth workers share experiences and improve in building positive, non-judgemental relationships with young people, creating safe, motivating and inclusive learning environments for individuals and groups. Additionally, it provided educational methods to develop creativity and foster motivation for learning.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The project involved 16 youth workers from Romania, Spain, UK and Lithuania.

Training methods used & main activities

The other trainer and I divided the TC in several parts and agreed on how to approach each one. We followed the project objectives previously concluded by the team of partners for the TC. (I was also involved in that team.)
In the TC, we used many different group dynamics, such as One Step Forward and A mosque in Sleepyville. There was individual and group reflection, and a lot of group work.
Within the TC there was a day in which the participants went to a local school to implement activities related to inclusion that they had planned beforehand during the TC. They were very touched by the outcome of that day.

Outcomes of the activity

At the end of the TC, and for some time afterward, I kept receiving feedback from the participants expressing how the project changed their point of view towards certain minority groups and even their professional approach towards certain situations.
All 4 partners implemented a follow-up activity at the end of the project.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

In this project I had two roles: active partner in the KA2 project before and after the TC, on one hand; and work as trainer, on another.
The team was formed by 2 trainers. Daniela-Elisabeta (Eliza) Pacuraru was the other trainer.
Eliza and I shared the preparation of the TC.
During the training, I prepared and reviewed daily the program of activities together with Eliza and CREED (the coordinator of the KA2 project and host of the TC), in order to adapt to the participants needs, situation or other external factors.

I worked on this training for 8 days as a full time trainer.
