Aims & objectives

"Inclusive Outdoors" is a training course that aims to educate and support youth workers and educators on how to use the outdoors as a tool for inclusion in their youth work. The objectives of the project are:
To develop the competencies of using the outdoors as a tool for inclusion
To develop competencies in empathizing and defining the needs of target groups
To develop competencies in developing, prototyping and testing outdoor activities supporting the inclusion in local communities

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

25 youth/social workers, youth leaders, and educators from Albania, Austria, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Russian, and Ukraine

Training methods used & main activities

During the Training Course, the participants will experience and learn about different types of outdoor activities (Hiking, Bushcraft, Building Shelters, Camping, Photo-hunting, Water activities, Solo time, etc.); empathize and define the needs of various target groups; develop, prototype and test their own outdoor activities supporting inclusion; introduced to methodological and safety aspects.
There would be two and a half-full day stay completely outdoors, including cooking, sleeping in bags and other group activities.

In the context of nature-based activities, the program will offer reflection methods based on self-reflection in natural surroundings, to calm down and listen to yourself in nature, which can be used in the follow-up multiplying events in the home countries.

Outcomes of the activity

Training Course that equipped 25 participants with competencies to develop outdoor games and activities supporting inclusion, based on the needs of their target groups. Dissemination of the results of the project and implementation of local outdoor activities supporting inclusion in each partner country by using new competencies gained during the Training Course.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

Full-time trainer, working in active collaboration in every stage of the project, design, preparation of the activity programme taking into consideration the participant's individual and learning needs, implementation of the activities, evaluation of the activity in collaboration with the co-trainer colleague Michael Scheuchenegger.

I worked on this training for 7 days days as a full time trainer.
