TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Clair BROWN
This training activity aimed to bring disabled and fewer opportunity participants together using the theme of sport for inclusion. The training introduced participants to practical particpation in sport and also how this could be used as a tool for inclusion. Participants who joined Inclusion through Sport on the whole had inclusion as a focus of the group and wanted to introduce sport as a tool to introduce their target group to international mobility opportunities.
The team included British, French and Spanish staff and the training brought together participants from Spain, France, UK, Germany and Italy and each group consisted of a responsible and two disabled or dissengaged participants and a further two participants without special needs.
Interactive and participative methods. Sessions included for example participants designing a sport for inclusion in mixed ability/country teams. Traying out different sports and adapting them for use with disabled/dissengaged participants. Introducing sports from participants own countries and teaching the rules of play, contact making and finally an overview of the Lifelong Learning and Youth in ACtion programmes.
The final day of this workshop was spent with participants setting up their own contact and future planning groups. Two projects have been suggested as a result of the training and we will do a follow up within 12 months after the activity ended in order to discover what has been achieved.
A LIVEBLOG and DVD were also created as a result of this training http://inclusionthroughsport.blogspot.co.uk/
