EGEA and IAAS collaborated to organise their annual Training New Trainers. For both organisations, this event aims to strengthen the organisational training system by training a new generation of trainers and contributes to the personal capacity development of the participants.
The trainers were from Belgium, Austria, Poland and Romenia.
The participants were from the UK, Austria, Greece, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, France and Italy.
The whole training was structured around experience-based learning: participants experienced a wide range of non-formal participatory learning methods such as:
group discussions, game-based learning, energizers, brainstorms, simulation excersises, ...
Participants delivered a first short training, prepared has homework, to set a baseline of their training skills. After intense sessions about learning design, facilitation skills and methodologies, the participants prepared and deliverd a second training applying and showcasing their learning.
18 participants from IAAS and EGEA were trained as trainers, strengthening their personal skills and both organisations' capacities for personal development. For EGEA, a junior trainer mentoring system was established after this training.
The training team consisted of 5 full-time trainers whom all trained for 7 training days. I was the coordinating trainer and planned and lead trainers' meetings, balanced the needs of both organisations into the program, and coordinated with the local organisers on logistical needs.
