HEROES! A Youthworker's Journey

Aims & objectives

The aims is to provide youth workers with a
experiential learning journey based on the Hero’s
Journey methodology. Participants will explore
how to address intercultural, intergenerational,
and social divides while developing inclusive,
creative, and community-rooted youth projects.
WHY?

WHEN: 20th - 26th October 2025
WHERE: Brežice, Slovenia
Better understand and apply the phases of the
project cycle within the context of inclusive youth
work.
Explore real-life challenges in working with
diverse youth, including accessibility, equity, and
social justice.
Strengthen their ability to see situations from
multiple perspectives, and creatively respond to
unexpected changes or needs in projects.
Gain hands-on experience in designing youth
projects that are inclusive, meaningful, and rooted
in local or international realities.
Develop personal and professional reflection
skills, recognizing their own role and potential as
“heroes” in their communities.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The group was 27 people from 10 countries, both proffessional youth workers, educators, trainers as well as volunteers and students. The team was two trainers + support staff.

Training methods used & main activities

Non-formal education methods. Experiential workshops, role plays, lectures, discussions, reflection, Q&A etc.

Outcomes of the activity

There was a lot of disseminating activities after this TC on different levels (workshops, posts, group reports, presentations in their own organizations etc.)
