"From multicultural to intercultural" is an ERASMUS+ project. It aimed to facilitate the transition of European Society FROM MULTICULTURAL where different cultures, national, ethnic, religious groups all living within the same territory BUT not necessarily coming into contact with each other, a society where difference is often viewed negatively and forms a major justification for discrimination TO INTERCULTURAL SOCIETY where different cultures, national group, etc. living together in within a territory, maintain open relations of interaction, exchange and mutual recognition of their own and respective values and ways of life.
The VS NGO is actively working in the field of intercultural dialogue.
The project involved a total of twenty five youngsters aged between 18 and 30 years and five group leaders. The participants were representing five non governmental organizations from five different countries (Bulgaria, Macedonia, Turkey, Romania and Spain).
The methodology used in the implementation of the project was based on the informal learning or called "learning by doing" conducted outside the formal educational system.
As a result of the participation in the exchange each of the participants developed some of the eight key competences for lifelong learning, seen as a collection of knowledge, skills and attitudes, namely:communication skills in a language different from the native;learning to learn;cultural awareness;expression, etc. The youngsters had the opportunity to discover new cultures, customs and ways of life.
As a trainer on this project I was responsible for the group dynamics in the beginning, meaning conducting name games, get to know games, ice-breakers, teambuilding exercises and group assignment. Besides that I've delivered different sessions on topics such as Effective Communication, Intercultural sensitivity, NLP ect.
