GLEN aims at contributing
to a better understanding of global interdependency,
to fair and sustainable ways of living,
to a responsible development policy and,
to North-South relations based upon equal partnership and mutual respect
The objectives of GLEN
to build capacities of young Europeans for work in development co-operation and global education,
to contribute to more awareness in the European society of issues of global development and interdependency between the life of people in Europe and developing and/or transition countries,
to connect people and organisations working in the field of global education in different European countries, to provide them with spaces for creative exchange and for developing new ideas together,
to contribute to European integration, particularly concerning the relationships between old and new EU member countries.
Therefore the training seminar was designed according the aim & objectives and included following content:
Global Education, global issues and development: theory on content and methods as well as practice,
getting to understand GLEN more,
team work with tandem/trinom partner(s) and within preparation group as such,
intercultural communication,
preparation to the hosting country (culture, history, Global Education issues),
getting to know the team partner(s) and other participants from different European countries
information on logistical and administrative preparation of the internship in the Global South
evaluation methods etc.
GLEN is the Global Education Network of Young Europeans. This network consists of the member organisations: INEX-SDA (CZ), AKU (EE), BRECI (FF), ASA-PROGRAMM (GER), HVSF (HU), GLEN LATVIA (LV), PAH (PL), GLEN SLOVAKIA (SK) and VOLUNTARIAT (SI)
Therefore on the First Multiplier Training Cycle 2013 70 participants participated from Latvia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Poland, Estonia, Hungary and Slovenia.
All of the participants were selected from their national member committees to take part in this Multiplier Training Cycle which includes a 3-month internship in the Global South. The participants are mainly students from 19 to 30 years.
As GLEN also aims to promote non-formal learning it was crucial and clear that we use mainly non-formal learning methods. The methods adapted to the group size (plenary vs. smaller groups vs. tutorials) and the aim of each session. We used the following methods:
Group puzzle, energizer, world café, learning stations, case studies, role plays & simulations, individual & group reflection, theater methods, experience based learning methods, quiz, group discussions,...

Together with the whole team I was responsible for the overall conference design. Besides that I prepared and facilitated plenary sessions for the whole group with other tutors and all the tutorial sessions for my tutorial with 8 participants during the whole seminar.
