Aims & objectives

The activity aimed to strengthen participants’ ability to critically examine fake news, misinformation, lies and propaganda, particularly in relation to politics and climate change. It sought to develop critical thinking, media literacy and the ability to assess information sources, recognise misleading narratives and make more informed judgments. The activity also encouraged participants to reflect on the role of young people and youth workers in promoting responsible information-sharing and democratic participation.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The activity took place in Gytheio, Greece, from 14 to 24 June 2026, within an international Erasmus+ youth project coordinated by Greek Acting Youth. Participants included youth workers and young people from Italy, Greece, Türkiye, Latvia, Albania and Bulgaria. The project involved international cooperation among partner organisations, including AEFDS from Morocco, creating opportunities for intercultural learning and the exchange of perspectives on media, politics and climate change.

Training methods used & main activities

The activity addressed fake news, misinformation, propaganda and the critical examination of information. The methods described here should be adapted to reflect the sessions I personally delivered. Where applicable, these may include non-formal learning activities, group discussions, practical analysis of news and media content, collaborative exercises, critical reflection and intercultural exchange.

Outcomes of the activity

The activity provided opportunities for participants to strengthen their critical awareness of misinformation and propaganda, examine how misleading narratives can influence public opinion, and exchange perspectives across different national contexts. It supported reflection on media literacy, responsible communication and the contribution of youth work to informed civic participation. Any specific learning outcomes should be confirmed against the programme, participant feedback or evaluation results.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I contributed to the activity as a trainer. My responsibilities should be specified according to my actual assignment, including the sessions I delivered, the learning activities I facilitated, and any preparation, participant support or evaluation tasks I undertook. The final description should clearly distinguish my own responsibilities from those of the project coordinator and other trainers.

I worked on this training for 10 days days as a full time trainer.
