Aims & objectives

Recognizing the crucial role of facilitators in ensuring the success of non-formal activities (fostering learner-centered and process-based learning experiences), ”Facilitate Growth!” aimed to empower participants with essential skills in organizing and communication abilities, problem-solving, effective use of visualization, and ICT tools, active listening, giving constructive feedback, and fostering intercultural environments.

During the training course, we combined theory and practical exercises, allowing participants to hone their facilitation skills through activities like public speaking and the use of various tools for team building and conflict resolution.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The project’s target group is anyone currently involved in working with young people (in any format) or expresses serious commitment to get involved in the future; from Hungary, North Macedonia, Cyprus, Greece, Spain, Italy, Czechia, Croatia, and Bulgaria.

Training methods used & main activities

Interactive Workshops: Participants engaged in hands-on workshops that allowed them to practice their facilitation skills in a supportive environment. These workshops included group discussions, brainstorming sessions, and collaborative activities.

Role Play and Theater Techniques: Role play was used to simulate real-life scenarios that facilitators might encounter, helping participants develop their communication and conflict resolution skills. Theater techniques, such as improvisation, were also employed to enhance participants' public speaking abilities and confidence, allowing them to express ideas dynamically.

Public Speaking Exercises: Participants practiced their public speaking skills through structured presentations and impromptu speaking sessions, receiving constructive feedback from peers and facilitators to improve their delivery and content.

Problem-Solving Activities: Group challenges and case studies were designed to encourage participants to work together to identify solutions to common facilitation issues. This method fostered collaboration and critical thinking.

Visualization Techniques: Participants learned to use various visualization tools, such as mind maps and infographics, to enhance understanding and engagement during their sessions, helping them to convey complex information effectively.

ICT Tools Training: Training sessions focused on the effective use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to support facilitation, including digital collaboration tools, presentation software, and online resources for engagement.

Active Listening and Feedback Sessions: Participants practiced active listening skills through pair and group activities, enabling them to give and receive constructive feedback, fostering a culture of growth and improvement.

Cultural Sensitivity Exercises: Activities designed to promote intercultural understanding and sensitivity, helping participants create inclusive environments and recognize the diverse backgrounds of young people they work with.
