EVS volunteer on-arrival training

The training activity took place
in Minsk, Belarus
organised by NGO "Youth Education Center "Fialta"

Aims & objectives

Aim:
Provide international volunteers with skills and information necessary for the quality of their service.
Objectives:
• Introduce local realities and cultural differences
• Develop project plans
• Provide tools for realising the learning dimension of the service

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Team: 1 trainer from Latvia (me), 1 from Belarus
Group: 5 volunteers from Germany and 4 from Poland.

Training methods used & main activities

Day 1
Team-building exercises to build the international volunteers' community and mutual support.
Day 2
Input on EVS.
Practical questions regarding the service.
Field exercise with tasks for getting to know local realities and basic practical things.
Project presentations.
Day 3
Project plans and possible developments.
Creating personal learning plans.

Outcomes of the activity

Volunteers feeling more confident in host placements and developed spirit of volunteers' community.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

Planning and performing the program, as well as evaluating the activity.

I worked on this training for 3 days as a full time trainer.
