EVS on arrival

The training activity took place
in Kokkola, Finland
organised by CIMO, the Finnish NA for YiA
25-27.1.2011

Aims & objectives

The aim of the training is to provide the new EVS volunteers information on their rights and duties, the YiA programme and the big picture of EVS. The volunteers are also given a chance to reflect on the importance of communication, thei role in their projects and the project in general.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The participants were 8 participants from Spain, Italy, Latvia, Russia, Romania, France.
Thay were all EVS volunteers in Finland.

Training methods used & main activities

We used methods for mapping the cultural diversity of the group: we asked them to draw the world map, we made a project market where the paricipants introduced their projects, we introduced Youthpass through mission impossible, etc.

Outcomes of the activity

The training was a success, because the participants felt like they had had a chance to hear the information they needed and had some time to express themselves and to reflect on their task. Many of the participants are activly working with the YiA programme even now after the EVS experience.
