EVS On-Arrival Training

Aims & objectives

The aim of the training was to provide the newcomers in EVS all the information needed considering Erasmus+ and EVS. Volunteers are also given a chance to reflect on the importance of communication, their role in their projects and the project in general. Furthermore, to introduce the hosting country and the projects’ environment to incoming volunteers and to empower them so that they cope with the challenges that will occur during their stay and activation.

Objectives:
To get to know each other as well as to get acquainted with other actors related to the EVS program in Greece (National Agency, trainers)
To bring volunteers in a primary contact with Greek cultural characteristics.
To create an “informal” volunteers’ network that will constitute a means for mutual support and exchange of experience during their project.
To exchange “first” experiences with regards to the volunteers’ hosting projects.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Participation of international volunteers.

Training methods used & main activities

Non Formal Education Methods were used and a variety of tools depending on the groups' needs. Generally the methods included:
Working groups
Debates
Role playing
Reflection techniques
Self assessment techniques
Energizers
Peer education

Outcomes of the activity

The training achieved its objectives as stated above and this conclusion comes from the evaluation questionnaire fulfilled by the volunteers at the end of the training.
