EVS/ESC Support Measures: Mid Term Meeting

The training activity took place
in Weimar, Germany
organised by EJBW
26.02.-02.03.2018

Aims & objectives

The aims and objectives of the midterm meetings that I have run and am regularly running for the EJBW are to support participants in advancing in their EVS/ESC projects. The goal is to empower individuals to take meaning full action in their project that will benefit themselves but also the community they work in. This happens mainly by designing a programme that allows for reflection on many different levels and settings.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The target group of this activity were European Voluntary Service/European Solidarity Corps volunteers starting their EVS/ESC. Participants came from Portugal, Italy, Spain, Austria, Serbia, Ukraine and Russia.
Coordinators:
Grit Gierth (Germnay)
Markus Rebitscheck (Germany)

Training methods used & main activities

The training was based on non-formal educational aproaches of which the most important were: learner centered, voluntary and co-ownership of the process between trainer and participant. The methods include: teambuilding, simulation, coaching, input sessions, open space, creative atelier.

Outcomes of the activity

Participants reflected on their voluntary service and found new ideas to overcome conflicts or difficulties at the same time also discovered opportunities which they could take on to develop the skill set they wanted. They learned more about intercultural skills (Youth Pass session). They also found out how they want to go on with their project. They reflected about what they want to do after the EVS.
