Aims & objectives

The main objective of the event was to develop input for the Commission’s proposal for a new framework of European cooperation in the youth field, which was to be adopted in spring 2009. The debate bring together the points of view of the different National Youth Councils, International Non-Governmental Youth Organisations and the consultations thus far organised in the framework of this cycle of the structured dialogue with young people.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The European Youth Week consisted of different activities taking place in Member States and in Brussels, including debates and discussions relating to young people and Europe, European Youth Policy and the YOUTH IN ACTION Programme. The event in Brussels brang together approximately 200 young people from the EU and other countries as well as around 30 young journalists.

Training methods used & main activities

Working groups and round tables; Non-formal education methods.

Outcomes of the activity

Participants came up with oral/written conclusions/recommendations on youth issues towards the European Commission.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

My responsibilities were:
- Full time facilitator;
- Participated the prep team meeting in September 2008 in Brussels
- During the event I have facilitated working group "Volunteering"
- Participated daily team meetings

I worked on this training for 8 days as a full time trainer.
