Aims & objectives

Aim:
This TC aims at strengthening the capacity of youth workers in developing the entrepreneurial potential of young people, as to enable them to adopt a proactive approach in their personal, civic and professional life.

Objectives:
• To explore and clarify the concept of entrepreneurship in a broad sense and raise awareness on the importance of the development of young people’s respective competences;
• To identify challenges and resources needed for the implementation of entrepreneurial initiatives;
• To explore how non-formal education and youth work can foster entrepreneurship among young people especially through volunteering and active participation in civil society;
• To offer space to exchange knowledge, experiences, good practices and ideas in the field of entrepreneurial learning, to share and develop tools/methods for stimulating and coaching youth entrepreneurship;
• To identify and make good use of the opportunities for entrepreneurial learning in the Erasmus+ Programme and to create an environment for future cooperation among participants.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

There were 22 participants from Austria, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Greece,
Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal and Sweden.

Training methods used & main activities

On the arrival day, we had a welcome evening for our pax and we prepared a
live expo on the subject as well as the Cypriot culture. Later on, we had some
name games, in order to give the pax the opportunity to feel more comfortable
and part of a team. The next day, we started with some ice breakers and
getting to know each other activities, as well as a team building activity and in
the final sessions of the day we introduced the subject of the training and gave
the pax the chance to present their organisations in a NGO fair. On the third
day, we had some more activities and discussions on entrepreneurship and we
also had a person invited to share his story on how to become and be an
entrepreneur. We then gave the pax the chance to go outdoors with an
entrepreneurial challenge to face, which they had to present the day after.
After the presentation and the discussion on how they dealt with the challenge,
we gave time to the pax to prepare some tools needed to youth workers in
order to be able to help young people develop entrepreneurial skills. On the
last day, the different groups presented what they had prepared and in the
very last sessions, we gave them time for networking, preparation of their
Youth Pass and evaluation.

Outcomes of the activity

Realising how important entrepreneurial skills are, youth workers need to know how to support young people in developing them. A youth worker is expected to possess a set of methods and tools in order to facilitate the development of these skills. Youth workers need to be equipped with the appropriate knowledge, information and tools and this training has been set up to support youth workers in this. In this training course we gave tools to a number of youth workers to support young people develop and use their entrepreneurial skills.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

The trainers team consisted of 4 people: Eliza Bujalska from Poland, Hugo
Ribeiro from Portugal, Iliana Petridou from Cyprus and Ioanna Vlachou from
Greece. We all had equal responsibilities on the preparation and
implementation of the project and we had the chance to evaluate each other in
our last meeting and give and take feedback. We were all participants in the
TOT 2017-2018 and with the implementation of this training we had the
chance to experience another international training based on what we have
learned during the TOT. The participants recognize the trainers competencies
during the training and shared experiences. The evaluation from the
participants is good.

I worked on this training for 6 days days as a full time trainer.
