Aims & objectives

The Seminar was organised by Greek Youth Institution, as part of Action 2 - E.V.S. seminars. The aim was to introduce the hosting country and the projects’ environment to incoming volunteers and to empower them so that they cope with the challenges that will occur during their stay and activation.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

There were 60 volunteers from 15 countries, aged 18-30 years old. The majority of EVS volunteers came from Program countries.

Training methods used & main activities

Group Dynamics to get to know each other but also to get acquainted with other actors related to the EVS programme in Greece (National Agency, trainers)

Creation of videos to support participants in further practicing the use of Greek language.

Using multimedia tools to create an “informal” volunteers’ network that will constitute a means for mutual support and exchange of experience during their project.

Using theatre and moving in space to integrally evaluate participants’ EVS projects towards prevention and resolution (where needed) of conflicts or even crises.

Highlighting techniques such as fish bowl, to provide participants with space and support for reflection on their future as volunteers (but also, in general) and, as well, for the setting up of an “action plan” as a “compass” for the results that are sought after by each individual.

Market methodology, to exchange “first” experiences with regards to the volunteers’ hosting projects.

Outcomes of the activity

The successful outcomes of the activity are available to the Greek National Agency Youth In Action, as the volunteers completed a written evaluation form, especially designed to the specific activity by the Greek Pool of trainers of Greek N.A
