Aims & objectives

Project's objectives:
The project main aim was to develop our capacities of enabling young people to become active, responsible citizens and promote participatory democracy by:
1. Equipping 32 youth workers with necessary competencies in order to address the democratic disconnect of young people using innovative techniques;

2. Identifying and exploiting specific digital media tools which motivate young people to become active citizens;

3. Developing specific communication techniques connected to social media society that inspire young people to become active citizens;

4. Sharing effective online tools which will help 10 NGOs to better engage young people in the democratic processes;

5. Strengthening 10 partners cooperation through the E+ in the field of democratic
participation of youth.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

In the E-Active Youth we involved 32 youth workers aged +18 (volunteers, social workers, social pedagogues, community development facilitators, educators, social media coordinators/managers
and other related partners staff) who are directly involved in implementing active citizenship promotional activities, events and campaigns (online and offline) coming from 10 EU countries (Romania, Lithuania, Poland, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain,
Italy, Greece, Croatia and Cyprus) and actively involved in the partner organisations.

Training methods used & main activities

The project was heavily based on the notion of developing digital skills by the participants and therefore exploring online and media tools. Our training methodology, though, was be much more diverse and we used the following non-formal education tools:
- plenary inputs by the trainers and experts - these will utilize both digital tools (power point/Prezi
presentations) and flip-chart/paper-based instructions;
- team-building and energizers for getting to know each other and stimulating energy in the training
room;
- one-to-one and group work based on discussion, debates, sharing of ideas, etc;
- guest speaker - opportunity to listen and observe how ‘others do it’;
- learning by doing - utilized especially when testing the tools and undertaking practical exercises;
- reflection upon and evaluation of the learning process, etc.
- role-play, world-coffee, theater.
