Aims & objectives

The training course aimed to improve the quality of youth leaders by providing the opportunity to practice facilitation and coaching in a safe "x-PEERiment" setting for developing their competences as youth leaders and facilitators.

The objectives of the training course were:
- To discuss key concepts and frameworks in the area of facilitation and coaching bringing the attention to the youth field;
- To exchange good practices and discuss them using previous experience;
- To give space to participants to lead workshops a.k.a. "X-PEERiments";
- To assist participants in assessing oneself as a facilitator and creating plans for development;
- To empower participants to develop in the field of youth leadership and creating/leading learning of young people;
- To foster mutual understanding of roles of facilitators/coaches in the youth field;
- To give participants the opportunity to experiment in an international environment and become more comfortable in it as facilitators.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The group consisted of 30 participants from 10 countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Denmark, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Spain, Austria, Italy). The team consisted of 2 trainers (Estonia and Austria) and 2 support staff members from Estonia.

Training methods used & main activities

non-formal learning methods as role-plays, simulations, debates, non-verbal communication exercises, group works, case studies, games

Outcomes of the activity

The training course was for future facilitators and group leaders. Thus, the sessions created during the TC were results of the content of the first TC part. The sessions delivered by participants were of high quality and participants were seen to evolve as more confident facilitators towards the end of the course.
