This international seminar was aiming at sharing experiences of youth depopulation in rural areas around Europe and using Almedíjar village in Spain as a case study example.
The objective were:
• To share experiences about youth depopulation in rural areas;
• To explore art based strategies that foster youth installations in deprived areas;
• To impulse a European network of youth organisations working with Arts,
territorial and social inclusion.
The target group in this seminar were youth and community workers living in rural areas and those who are focusing on social inclusion through culture and arts. Participating countries were: Spain, Ireland, Germany, France, Portugal and the Nederlands.
Our international team had four people: 1 professional photographer, 1 project administrator, and 2 international trainer's.
This seminar had a mix of non-formal education and artistic methodologies. It also included a number of visits to the local art based projects that are contributing to the rural areas development in Spain.
The main outcomes of this activity would be:
• Identifying key factors of youth depopulation in rural areas;
• Identifying common cultural strategies to foster attractiveness of deprived areas;
• Setting up a diagnostic and defining possible action plans to impulse young installation
in Almedíjar;
• Developing project ideas for further cooperations;
• Taking part to the 1st Edition of FES AlmedijarARTE.
In this seminar, I worked as a full time international trainer. Together with the team we created and implemented educational content. My particular focus was directed to ensuring clear links between arts, culture and social inclusion of young people in rural areas.
