DIG Your Story! Storytelling as a Powerful Tool in the Youth Work Context

Aims & objectives

The Main goal:
Increasing the effectiveness of youth work by improving the skills of youth workers to apply digital storytelling in their day-to-day work with young people with a different profile.

Subgoals:
- Improving participants' knowledge of digital storytelling as an innovative and transformative tool and its possible applications and benefits in youth work;
- Developing skills for creating personal/organizational narratives as projects for social change and community engagement;
- Improving ICT skills, online resources and multimedia tools to digitize stories and disseminate them;
- Establishment of a network of organizations interested in exchanging experience in digital rendering in working with young people with different profiles - sharing good practices, practical applications, dissemination of results, etc .;
- Developing follow-up projects, using the acquired skills and knowledge through this course.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Project partners: Bulgaria, Ukraine, Belgium, Spain, Latvia, Cyprus, Italy, Croatia, Republic of Macedonia, Georgia, Slovenia, Portugal

Profile of the participants: 26 youth workers, leaders, mediators, facilitators, coaches and activists interested and willing to acquire digital storytelling skills and implement it in their work, having experience in youth work and work with young people with different profile.

Training methods used & main activities

The programme is based on non-formal education methods, such as teambuilding, group discussions, presentations, simulation exercises, learning by doing, follow-up projects development, and networking.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

1. Preparatory Skype meetings before the training about the program, participants, activities, etc.
2. Development of the complete trainer’s scenario according to the requirements and the aims of the project
3. Creation and setting up Gmail account (digyourstorytc@gmail.com) and Youtube channel of the project (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvVweJovXik1LQ3AslVTdBQ/about),
4. Registration and setting up WordPress blog of the project (https://digyourstory.news.blog/) and registration Facebook page of the project (https://www.facebook.com/DIG-Your-Story-278187689648637)
5. Final preparatory meeting before the project on 13th of August 2018 (final preparation for the activity program, preparation of welcome flipchart, ‘Mission impossible’, timetable)
