Aims & objectives

The European Youth Conference was part of the third phase of the Structured Dialogue. The Cyprus Presidency was focused on "Youth Participation and Social Inclusion", focusing on young people with migrant background".

The main topics of the Conference were how youth participation leads to the social inclusion of all young people, with emphasis on the inclusion of young people with a migrant background as well as the importance of the participation of young people and youth organizations, especially in decision making for the creation of inclusive, democratic and prosperous societies.

250 youth delegates and representatives of the General Directors (DGs) on Youth from the EU member states.
16 facilitators from various countries.

Outcomes of the activity

The thematic priority of the conference was "Youth Participation and Social Inclusion". During the conference, representatives from various youth organisations and government officials from EU member states, candidate countries and others discussed how youth participation leads to the social inclusion of young people, with emphasis on young people with a migrant background. The importance of the participation of young people and youth organizations especially in decision making, as an important factor for the creation of inclusive, democratic and prosperous societies was highlighted. A set of Joint Recommendations on the subject were adopted at the end of the conference by the youth delegates and the DG representatives of EU Member States.
