Comic Against Violence

Aims & objectives

To give young people and youth workers the appropriate tools and information in order to
increase their understanding of problem of violence in intimate relationships in between
young people and to explore and show successful practices of prevention of this kind of
violence to be realized in schools and youth centers.

To develop a common product: A comic-compilation of 6 stories about gender based
violence in order to disseminate it as educative material in youth localities (schools, youth
centers, organizations that work with the subject of gender based violence) in the 6
participants countries.

To stimulate the mutual understanding between youth about the forms and consequences
of violent intimate relationships and to promote respectful behaviour with the persons of
the opposite sex as well as safe relationships.

To develop ways of how to get our of an abusive relationship and strenghten the potential
peer support and help.

To inform the participants about the protection and intervention measures against gender
based violence in intimate relationships as well as to learn about help and support services.

To learn about the process of creating a comic: how to write the story, how to put it in the
framework of a comic, which are the drawing tecniques, ...

To develop local/(international) expositions of the comic made during the workshop in all
the participants countries

To develop common ideas about future youth inniciative or youth exchanges projects about this or other subjects of common interest for youth, within the Youth in Action Programme.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

20 participants from Italy, France, Spain, Macedonia, Austria and Serbia. The target group of the project were young people and youth workers.

Training methods used & main activities

During the training the mornings were dedicated to the topic of gender based violence and we explored the topic with methods such as debates, simulation, brainstorming, work in small groups and buzz groups, and afternoons were dedicated for drawing training.
Many of the methods used were taken from manual: Heartbeat - gender based violence in the intimate teer relationship.

Outcomes of the activity

During the project the results of comic were developed, and the exhibition was done in different countries - twice in Spain, in Italy and in Serbia.

The comics were published online in the magazine libertas.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I was a member of the team of trainers in charge of developing the programme, faclitating session and making the inputs.

I worked on this training for 6 days as a full time trainer.
