The mid term project “Citizenship and Democratic Participation in Political Transition contexts” aimed at developing youth work strategies fostering inclusive democratic participation in the public sphere.
The objectives were to increase the eagerness and openness towards non-formal education methodology and the relevance of educational Youth Work as an important tool to promote social change; and to establish cooperation among communities of practice and network with other educational actors.
Activists, educators, trainers and youth workers coming from ten different Euro-Mediterranean countries participated in the mid-term project.
The team was coordinated by Trajectorya MTÜ, and trainers from the Ahead, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, TFA, and the Center for Democracy and Social Peace Studies.
The whole mid-term project was designed as a space for mutual learning, where participants exchange and further develop their approaches to Youth Work based on the principles of inclusive democratic participation in the public sphere.
A combination of non formal education methodological approaches (including experiential learning and outdoor experiential learning) and the experiences and support of practitioners in self-development were used.
The project developed youth work strategies and a network of organisations to foster inclusive democratic participation in the public sphere specially supporting new social initiatives addressing the current systemic crisis in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
